I have known Laurie Lazzaro Knowlton for many years and she is such a kick. Laurie is a prolific writer, illustrator and champion of the SCBWI. It has been a pleasure to hear her speak on the writer's life. Today she gives us a great Writing Tip of the Day.
Great tip! It's like keeping an eye on the top of the mountain so the character, or at least the author, always knows in which direction to go, and remembers to stay close to a straight line to it.

My characters always surprise me! I like this tip from Laurie, because after the first draft is done, working backwards can help identify when and where more details are needed to give characters more strength.
