I ran across two favorite quotes this week that resonate with me as a writer:
“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” -- Thomas Edison
“If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it's not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That's why it's your path.” -- Joseph Campbell
It’s so important that we take advantage of every opportunity to perfect our craft. Writing a blog or a newsletter or doing work-for-hire projects may not seem like it’s getting us any closer to publishing the work of our heart, but the odds are it is doing just that.
Follow a path of your own making. Love the journey—it’s the only one you’ve got.
