Here's a debut novel from Christine Mardelski with a "sweet" twist:
The Sweetest Thing
Egmont: May 2011
Summary:
In the world of Sheridan Wells, life is perfect when she's decorating a cake. Unfortunately everything else is a complete mess: her mom ran off years ago, her dad is more interested in his restaurant, and the idea of a boyfriend is laughable.
Sheridan is convinced that finding her mom and making their family whole again will solve all her problems. But when her dad gets a chance to have his own cooking show in New York, her dream of a perfect family is dashed. With just the right amount of family drama and romance, The Sweetest Thing will entice fans with its perfect mixture of girl-friendly ingredients.
Inspiration:
Mardelski says, "The idea for my main character came from my family's love of all the cake decorating reality shows on TV. Those chefs have so much talent. One day I thought, 'What if there was a girl who was a cake decorating prodigy?' As the character of Sheridan developed, I wanted her to appear to be strong, but be dealing with some very serious emotional issues underneath her unruffled facade. In the end, I wanted her to grow as an artist, a daughter, a friend and a person in her own right."
Bio:
Christina Mandelski loves to bring the characters in her head to life on the page. When she isn’t writing, she’s volunteering, traveling or reading (preferably under an umbrella at the beach). Although she’d love to create amazing cakes like the main character in her book, given past experience, she’s decided to stick with eating them. Christina lives with her husband and two daughters in Houston.

I like the writing structure of your blog and it does a pretty decent job of presenting the material.

Thanks for the post. The book sounds great and I'm already hungry for cake.
