I met editor/author Deborah Halverson last summer when I was on the faculty of the SCBWI summer conference. She has written a number of teen novels and just completed her book "Writing YA for Dummies," scheduled for release in June 2011. Based on the great revision tip she gives us here, I'd say if you are writing YA, buy her "Dummies" book!
Hi Tina, nice blog. Hope to see you around the blogosphere.
Deborah, this is great, a short, simple tip that packs a punch. Love the video marketing, too. Perfect!

Love this tip! It really gave me a confidence boost because my YA novel actually has bookends - my character lists "things you should know about me" and the differences in the lists really show her growth.

I am doing revisions on a completed manuscript right now, and mentally applied this technique--and was amazed by how much different that first scene would be with the main character's last scene persona. Thanks so much for this tip, Deborah (and Tina)!
